Somerset West Soccer Club

The Somerset West Soccer Club is a member of the Tualatin Hills Junior Soccer League and is affiliated with the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) and the U.S. Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).

OYSA issues player cards for all registered coaches and players every fall. The cards are good for one year and identify the players and coaches by name, date of birth, club, and team. The cards are issued to the club and must be signed by the club registrar or club president, have a picture attached, and be laminated to be valid.

For classic soccer and recreational tournament play, the player cards serve to identify the player/coach, provide confirmation of current registration (and therefore insurance coverage), and establish player age. The cards are typically kept by the team coach and must be presented to the referee prior to the beginning of each match.

For regular season recreational play, player cards are not typically utilized.

The Somerset West Soccer Club receives it player cards from OYSA in September. We do not issue the cards to the players or coaches unless the players/coaches participate in a tournament where cards are required, play with a classic club in the spring or summer, or play in a recreational spring league. The cards will be issued to a coach if a Somerset West team is being entered in a tournament or to a player parent/guardian when the player is going to participate with a classic team or a different recreational team.

Once a card is issued, it is the responsibility of the coach or parent/guardian to whom it is issued. A replacement card can be obtained from OYSA but it must be requested by the club and a small fee must be paid.
