—————————- From Beaverton School District ————————————————

Communicable disease prevention and response is essential to supporting regular school attendance and maintaining the health of students, staff and our surrounding communities. BSD follows communicable disease guidance from the Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Department of Education and Washington County Public Health.

For Students

If a student tests positive for COVID-19, they’re no longer required to be excluded from school. Students who test positive should stay home from school if they’re experiencing symptoms described in the Too Sick For School guidance; there is no required quarantine. Families are encouraged but not required to report symptoms or diagnoses on their school attendance phone line to allow for communicable illness monitoring.

Based on Washington County Public Health outbreak guidance and other factors, the district nurses will determine when staff and families are notified of communicable disease in a school classroom or building.

For Staff

If an employee tests positive for COVID-19, they’re no longer required to be excluded from work. Staff who test positive should stay home if they’re experiencing symptoms described in the Too Sick For School guidance; there is no required quarantine. Staff are encouraged but not required to report symptoms or diagnoses to their direct supervisor to allow for communicable illness monitoring.

For All

In addition to staying home when ill, students and staff can reduce the spread of disease by:

  • Thoroughly washing hands throughout the day.

  • Covering coughs and sneezes.

  • Wearing face coverings when sick, recovering from illness or to provide protection from illness.

COVID-19 vaccination is no longer required for staff or volunteers.
